Tired of juggling spreadsheets, notebooks, and Artisan just to track your roasts?
RoastSource replaces them all. Inventory, roast profiles, tasting notes, blend recipes, and brewing guides — in one app that works offline and runs in your browser.
Home roasters don't all roast the same way. RoastSource lets you pick how much detail you see during a roast and switch any time — your beans, history, and ratings stay the same. Only the view changes.
All three views come with Home. Start in Craft, drop into Journey when you want to learn, switch to Science when you want to dig in. Your data carries across every mode.
Every aspect of home coffee roasting, from green bean to brewed cup.
Already roasting with another tool? Don't start over. RoastSource will read your existing roast files and pull your history into one place — coming soon.
You'll open profiles from Artisan (.alog), RoasTime, Cropster, IKAWA, Kaffelogic, Sandbox, and Roest — plus any CSV. See the curve, milestones, and a quality summary, and auto-match each roast to the green bean in your inventory.
Deep import analytics: quality scoring on imported curves, defect detection (stalls, crashes, scorching), Rate-of-Rise and phase analysis — so an old Artisan log scores and compares just like a fresh roast — plus export back out as Artisan-compatible JSON — and continuous auto-import, so new roasts flow in without lifting a finger.
Formats: Artisan .alog, RoasTime, Cropster, IKAWA, Kaffelogic, Sandbox, and Roest exports — plus any CSV roast log.
Plan a better roast before you start — then improve every batch after. It's powered by the Roast Quality Score that grades each roast on how well you hit your target: tell RoastSource about your bean, your roaster, and the cup you're after, and it works out a starting profile built to score well.
Pick your bean (origin / country and processing), your roaster and batch size, and the roast level or flavor you're aiming for. Got moisture or density readings? Add them for extra precision — totally optional.
It computes a recommended charge temperature, heat & fan steps, and target first-crack, drop, and development times — tuned to your machine for a high Roast Quality Score.
Log the roast and the calculator compares your real curve to the plan, learns what works on your setup, and sharpens the next recommendation.
It turns your roast history and the Roast Quality Score into a forward-looking plan — so you spend fewer batches dialing in, and pull more cups you actually love. Included with Home.
Built by a home roaster,
for home roasters.
RoastSource started at the kitchen counter with a Fresh Roast SR800, a notebook full of scribbled temperatures, and the frustration of not having a single place to track it all. Every feature exists because a home roaster needed it.

I love coffee. Not just drinking it — the entire craft of roasting it. There's nothing quite like the smell of a roast in progress — that grassy, hay-like aroma when the beans first start to heat, the warm toasty sweetness as they begin to yellow, the rich caramel wave rolling through first crack, and then that deep, intoxicating chocolate and smoky complexity if you decide to push into second crack territory. My Fresh Roast has become one of my favorite tools — whether I'm set up on the back patio on a warm day, in the garage when it is raining or in the basement when it gets too cold to roast outside.
What really got me hooked was discovering how much the origin, processing method, and roast level change everything in the cup. A light-roasted Ethiopian Sidamo or Guji that gives you those incredible blueberry and floral notes — keeping it at a light or city roast is where those blueberry characteristics really shine, and pushing past city plus starts to lose them. But a natural processed Colombian or a Sumatran wet-hulled? Those beans shine anywhere from a medium all the way to a dark French roast — the chocolate, spice, and body just keep building the further you go. And then there's the magic of nailing a natural processed coffee at exactly the right roast level for that bean — when all those wild, fruity, wine-like flavors come together in perfect balance and you know you found the sweet spot. Every combination of region, process, and roast degree unlocks something different, and chasing those flavors is endlessly rewarding.
But tracking all of that? That part was a mess. I tried notebooks, spreadsheets, random phone notes — nothing stuck. I'd nail an incredible roast — the perfect medium on a Sumatran wet-hulled that brought out all that earthy sweetness — and then have difficulty tracking exactly how I roasted to be able to repeat it again. Which power setting did I use at first crack? How long was the development time? What was the weight loss? Batch details got lost. Inventory was guesswork. Comparing how the same bean performed across different roast levels meant flipping through pages of scribbled times and temps.
That frustration became the Home release's headline. The Roast Quality Score grades every batch — development, timing, weight loss — and tells you where to focus next time, and a live drop window anchored to your actual first crack counts down on screen so the sweet spot stops being a guess. And if your roasting history lives in Artisan or RoasTime, you'll be able to bring it with you instead of starting over.
And then came blending — taking it to the next level. Once you start combining different origins and roast levels, you discover how all those individual flavors interact to create something entirely new. The perfect espresso blend, a smooth daily driver, a sweet cold brew, or something experimental inspired by traditions from around the world. Blending turns roasting into an endless creative playground, and keeping track of what ratios worked becomes just as important as tracking the roasts themselves. That's why I built the Blending module.
Beyond roasting and blending, I found myself constantly wanting to learn more — about coffee regions, processing methods, roast science, and brewing. Why does a Kenyan AA taste so different from a Guatemalan Antigua? Why does the same roast taste completely different in a pour over versus a French press? All of that knowledge feeds back into better roasting decisions, and I wanted it all in one place. That's why I built the Brewing and Java Geek modules.
I looked for software that could help, and everything I found was either built for commercial drum roasters, overly complicated, or just didn't fit the way home roasters actually work — especially air roaster users. Nothing spoke to our workflow.
So I built RoastSource. Not as a generic tool, but as the app I wished existed — designed from the ground up for home roasters who care about consistency, want to learn from every batch, and are tired of losing track of what worked. I built RoastSource so it would help every roaster — whether you're new and just learning or trying to take it to the next level and enhance your expertise. Every origin, every process, every roast level — all in one place, so once you perfect it, you can nail it again the next time: pin your favorite roast level on the bean, set your own targets, and let the app keep score.
