Every roast, rating, and bag of greens you log builds into something bigger. The Reporting module turns that history into dashboards, quality scores, cup-score summaries, inventory and cost reports, and roast-curve comparisons — with print buttons and CSV export when you want it on paper or in a spreadsheet.
You've been faithfully logging roasts for months. Somewhere in that pile of sessions is the answer to real questions — am I actually getting better? Which coffee earns its shelf space? What is a pound of my roasted coffee really costing me? Scrolling back through history one roast at a time won't tell you.
Reporting reads the whole pile at once. It surfaces trends, scores your roast quality on a 100-point scale with coaching tips, totals up what home roasting saves you, and flags the gaps in your logs so the answers stay trustworthy. No extra data entry — it all comes from what you've already recorded.
The Reporting module is organized into tabs, each answering a different question about your roasting. Overview gives you the at-a-glance dashboard; Quality tracks your 100-point Roast Quality Score; Ratings aggregates your cup scores; Inventory watches stock and usage; Cost & Value does the money math; Curves lets you view and compare roast curves; and Export gets your data out. A Data Quality report keeps an eye on gaps in your logs, and thirteen reports carry a print button for clean paper copies.
Quick start: open Reporting from the main menu, then pick a tab. That's it — the reports build themselves from the roasts, ratings, and inventory you've already logged.
Reporting is available in all three display modes — Craft, Journey, and Science. Craft roasters get it too: your reports are there whether you log by ear and nose or by probe and spreadsheet.
Reporting is organized into tabs across the top of the module.
The Overview is a summary, not the whole story. When a number surprises you — average cup score dipped, usage jumped — hop to the matching tab (Quality, Ratings, Inventory) for the detail behind it.
Don't chase a perfect 100 on every batch — the score is a coach, not a judge. The Trend view matters more than any single roast: a slowly rising line over months is the real win. If a low score produced a cup you loved, trust the cup and note what you did.
Aggregates get meaningful with volume — a coffee rated once isn't a pattern yet. When two coffees are neck and neck, the by-method view often breaks the tie: one may shine as pour-over while the other carries espresso.
Usage rates are based on your logged roasts, so the report stays accurate as long as your roasting stays logged. Pair this tab with the Ratings tab when deciding what to reorder — restock what you actually love, not just what's cheapest.
The math is only as good as the purchase prices in your Inventory — enter the cost when you log a new bag and this tab takes care of the rest. The Data Quality report will flag coffees that are missing a cost.
Comparisons are most telling between batches of the same bean — same coffee, different curve, different cup is exactly the lesson you're after. Curves come from the temperatures you logged during roasting, so richer logs make richer comparisons.
A few gaps won't break your trends, but systematic ones will — if half your roasts have no rating, the Ratings tab is telling you about the half you rated, not your roasting. Treat this report as a nudge, not homework.
CSV export means your roasting data is never locked in — it's yours to analyze, back up, or share. A printed Cost & Value report also makes a persuasive exhibit for anyone who thinks the roaster was an extravagance.
The Expert tier will add a Blend Cost Calculator and advanced analytics to Reporting. Everything described above is included with RoastSource Home today.
